nashville’s 2nd & church: celebrating writers, poets, & readers.

From 2012-2016, I was Editor-in-Chief of 2nd & Church, a literary journal celebrating writers, poets, and readers. Our goal was to be inclusive of many different types of writers and writing, including journalism, creative nonfiction, technical writing, literary fiction, poetry, writing for children, songwriting, translation, and commercial fiction. To produce and publish each issue, I worked with nearly two dozen team members that included writers, poets, graphic designers, photographers, fact checkers, and layout/design people in five states.

2nd & Church explored the creative writing life. What does it mean for a writer, poet, or reader to live a life of fine arts? Where can writers, poets, and readers gather? What do they write and read about? Which experiences make it from their lives to the page? How are they engaged, entertained, and provoked? These are some of the ideas explored in the journal’s page.
